Drip pan
A tray under an appliance that catches leaks before they cause damage.
A drip pan (or drain pan) sits beneath a water heater, washing machine, or HVAC air handler to catch leaks and condensation before they reach the floor. Many drain to the outside or a nearby floor drain. A pan with standing water in it is an early warning that the appliance above is leaking — check it during routine maintenance.
