Surge protector
A device that clamps voltage spikes before they reach your electronics.
A surge protector diverts the sudden voltage spikes — from lightning, utility switching, or large motors cycling — that can fry sensitive electronics. Power-strip units protect what's plugged into them, while a whole-home surge protector installed at the service panel shields hardwired equipment like HVAC boards, appliances, and LED lighting. Plug-in units wear out after absorbing surges, so replace ones that have taken a hit or lost their indicator light.
